American Express Centurion Airport Lounge DFW is an Always 5 Star experience! Here is what you need to know about this great airport lounge:
American Express has a wonderful benefit for Platinum and Centurion card holders* – complimentary access to an exclusive Always 5 Star airport lounge experience called the Centurion Lounge. Access to this lounge is available to all valid cardholders and applies no matter which airline you are flying with or which class of service you have reserved. The DFW Centurion lounge provides travelers with several reasons to hope for a little extra time before your flight in order to enjoy all that this club has to offer.
Here are the main highlights of this wonderful airport lounge:
Open daily: 5:30 am – 10 pm.
The Centurion Lounge in DFW is located in Terminal D across from gate D17. You can access the Terminal D (International Terminal) from any other terminal in DFW by riding the free Skylink train. The Skylink can be found by looking for the gold, yellow, and blue signs inside each of the Terminals. Follow these signs and take the escalator, elevator, or stairs up to the train station. The trains arrive every two minutes, and the ride time usually averages around five-ten minutes. I was able to get from Terminal A to Terminal D quickly and easily using the Skylink. You do not have to go through security again to access Terminal D.
Once you arrive in Terminal D, walk toward gate D17. I found the location of the lounge to be a little obscure as it is a bit hidden among the shops and restaurants. Look closely for the sign that is located on the second floor. Once you have located the sign you will see an elevator and escalator to get to the check in on the second floor.
The American Express Centurion Lounges have a similar theme décor that is reflected throughout all their locations. It is a contemporary modern design with clean lines of muted grays, stainless steel, warm wood paneling, whites and then pops of bright accent colors. There are also art features that can be spotted throughout the lounge.
This is a large lounge and offers plenty of seating. However, this lounge is also quite popular. I have visited on several occasions, and there have been times where it is difficult to find a seat depending on the time of day. The buffet food area has tables with chairs in order to accommodate and enjoy your dining experience.
Tip: Try to locate a chair near the business section, and you can usually find a place to sit where it is more quiet. This area also offers more plugs for charging your electronic devices.
The DFW location has a special perk –the Exhale Spa 15-minute complimentary massage. Depending on the time you arrive, it can be quite busy and it is done on a first come, first serve basis. Availability has been a hit or miss for me. However, it is worth a try as it is a great relaxation moment when you are traveling.
The spa room is small and has a couple of massage chairs with face cradles. There is soft music playing in the background. The only downside is you are situated around others having a massage. So, though they try to create a peaceful atmosphere, sometimes the proximity of the other massage can be a little distracting. For more information: DFW Exhale Spa
Suggestion: I always bring money for a tip. You are not paying for the actual service, but I like to show my gratitude to the employee with a tip. However, it is up to your own discretion as to whether to tip or not.
The best work space is toward the back. There is an area that has plugs for charging and is set up with computers, and printer for your business needs.
The food selection is the foundation that gives this lounge the “Always 5 Star” shine! The buffet dining options are designed by James Beard Award-winning Chef Dean Fearing. The dining fare is Texas influenced and the cuisine has been of top notch quality. A little secret – I plan ahead and arrive hungry so that I can enjoy this great dining experience.
This is another big plus of this lounge. The drink selection is ample and offers high quality brands. If your drink is not on the menu, the bartenders are willing to make you whatever you request. The bartenders I have encountered have been extremely friendly and helpful.
There are very nice showers and bathrooms in this location as well. A great opportunity to refresh before departing or arriving at the airport. The L’Occitane products are available in the bathrooms and showers.
The staff are all well trained and helpful. I have consistently had friendly check-ins and the lounge staff do well in keeping the tables cleared and the areas clean.
There are a couple of lounging couches toward the back of the lounge. However, the brightness of the lounge would inhibit one from sleeping. A good eye mask and ear plugs would do the trick.
I truly enjoy the DFW Centurion lounge and would like to congratulate American Express for seeing this benefit as important. I travel frequently and find that whenever I have a layover at DFW I look forward to enjoying and relaxing in the lounge. I am hopeful that this will be a new trend and more locations will continue to open up at the other airport. This lounge rates five stars. Cheers American Express Centurion on a much appreciated benefit!
